Welcome message

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the International Society of Cardiovascular Ultrasound, I cordially invite you to attend and participate in the XXIV World Congress of Echocardiography and Cardiovascular Imaging to be held May 17-20, 2018 in Albena Resort, Varna, Bulgaria. This Congress is co-sponsored by the International Society of Cardiovascular Ultrasound (ISCU) and the Bulgarian Society of Echocardiography.

An excellent scientific program encompassing various aspects of interest to all practicing physicians, cardiologists, radiologists, surgeons, anesthesiologists, critical care providers, ultrasound technologists and paramedical personnel has been planned under the capable leadership of Professor Krasimira Hristova, the pioneer of myocardial deformation Imaging in Bulgaria and a nationally renowned cardiologist. She serves as the National President of the Congress while Associate Professor Elena Kinova and Dr. Svetlin Tsonev are the Vice-President and Secretary, respectively. The theme of the Congress is “Recent Advances in Echocardiography and Cardiovascular Imaging.” The Scientific Program will include invited lectures, seminars, debates, interesting case studies as well as presentations of oral abstracts and scientific posters from several ultrasound and cardiovascular imaging laboratories throughout the world.

The previous Congresses held in 1994 (Nice, France),1996 (Beijing, China), 1998 (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), 2000 (Cairo, Egypt), 2001 (Seoul, South Korea), 2002 (New Delhi, India), 2003 (Buenos Aires, Argentina), 2004 (Antalya, Turkey), 2005 (Marrakech, Morocco), 2006 (Rome, Italy), 2007 (Rhodes,Greece), 2008 (Cartagena,Columbia), 2009 (Osaka,Japan), 2010 (Manila,Philippines and Mexico City,Mexico), 2011 (Gurugram,India), 2012 (San Paulo,Brazil), 2013 (Fujeira, United Arab Emirates), 2014 (Sibiu, Romania), 2014 (Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates), 2015 (Istanbul, Turkey) and 2016 (Mexico City, Mexico) were a tremendous success. Over 21,000 combined participants attended these Congresses representing over 70 countries throughout the world. The XXIII World Congress to be held in Jaipur, India in October, 2017 also promises to be a grand success.

Over the past two decades, echocardiography has taken significant strides including the improvement of ultrasound image resolution and development of myocardial contrast echocardiography, tissue Doppler imaging, speckle tracking echocardiography  and live/real time three- and four- dimensional transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography.  Faculty from all over the world have been invited to this World Congress to share their experiences in all fields of echocardiography and cardiovascular ultrasound and this will contribute to the exchange of scientific information among all attendees.

The major aim of the International Society of Cardiovascular Ultrasound is to promote an exchange of ideas and information amongst members of various countries, advance the science and art of cardiovascular ultrasound and allied techniques, and encourage and further the knowledge of these subjects. The Society serves to disseminate in a rapid manner recent advances and developments in the field by sponsoring or cosponsoring educational and scientific meetings including World Congresses in various parts of the world.  The Society publishes in the Echocardiography Journal news and other items of interest to its members and promotes its aims and objectives as well as through their website, http://www.iscu.org.

We look forward to the pleasure of meeting you in the beautiful country of Bulgaria next May.

Sincerely,
